Le Bistrot Découverte – where Provence lands on your plate

Market day in Saint-Rémy has its very own rhythm. The streets fill with the scent of fresh garlic. Stalls overflow with tomatoes, apricots, and lavender bouquets. Somewhere, an accordion sets the soundtrack.

After weaving through the colorful chaos, we sat down at Le Bistrot Découverte – a small but lively restaurant tucked into the old town. The name says it all: it’s about discovery, about savoring the local cuisine that celebrates the freshest market produce with a touch of creativity.

Our lunch unfolded in perfect Provençal style:

✨ A caramelized Tomato Tatin to start, rich and slightly sweet.

✨ Golden Poulet rôti, crispy outside, tender inside, with roasted potatoes sprinkled generously with chives.

✨ And for dessert, a dreamy Apricot Clafoutis, summer captured on a plate – light, fruity, and irresistible.

The bistro itself is unpretentious yet full of character – the kind of place where locals mingle with travelers, glasses of rosé are raised, and the flavors of Provence speak louder than words.

🌿 Fun Fact – Did you know?

Saint-Rémy is not only famous for its bustling markets and Provençal cuisine – it’s also where Vincent van Gogh spent a year at the Monastery of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole. Many of his most iconic works, including The Starry Night, were painted here. So while you’re sipping wine and tasting apricots, remember: you’re walking in the footsteps of genius.
